On land or in the oceans, many living organisms emit their own light to communicate, protect themselves or feed. This is known as bioluminescence. Laurie Casalot (IRD), Christian Tamburini (CNRS) and Séverine Martini (CNRS), scientists at the Institut Méditerranéen d'Océanologie, have developed a kit to produce a natural source of light energy using marine bacteria. A solution for the future, supported by the IRD's South-East regional delegation, just a few clicks away.
"SOLUTIONS", a series of media highlighting the projects supported by the Regional Innovation and Valorisation Department (SRIV) of the IRD's South-East Regional Delegation.
These materials highlight the projects carried out by IRD scientists, in partnership with developing countries and in collaboration with private players, to co-construct innovative solutions to help people in developing countries meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
