The defence of the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) of Pierre-Pol LIEBGOTTIRD Research Fellow at the MIO, will take place on Monday 14 April 2025 à 14h00 (Casablanca time), amphitheatre, OCEANOMED building, Luminy, on the subject of Extremophilic Microbial Bioelectrochemistry: A Solution for the Production of Energy Vessels. Shis presentation will focus on the exploration and exploitation of extremophilic microorganisms, particularly those from deep hydrothermal springs.
This work combines thermophilic dark fermentation and electromicrobiology (electrofermentation, microbial electrolysis cells) to develop innovative solutions in the field of bioenergy, in particular for the production of biohydrogen (BioH2).
This research integrates fundamental and biotechnological aspects, with a strong involvement in North-South collaboration (via the LMI BIOTEC H2 in Tunisia) and ambitious prospects via the BIOBLUE and GRILLON projects to remove the barriers to sustainable energy production thanks to polyextrêmophilia.
