SCHADOC will recruit 40 fellows for a period of 36 months over the course of two calls. AMU will employ the selected PhD students and host all of them. Their selection and hiring will follow HRS4R standards and AMU's open, transparent and merit-based recruitment policy. SCHADOC offers two ways to apply:
- Students can propose their own thesis topic and we will help them find a supervisor (Bottom-up call for tender launched on 2 December 2024)
- Thesis supervisors can propose their thesis topics and if they are selected a call for applications will be launched to find candidates (Top-down call for tenders launched on 6 January 2025)
SCHADOC's selection process enables projects to be grouped together in a single procedure with the same evaluation criteria. It takes place in several stages:
-
Stage 0 - Call for bottom-up projects
An international call for candidates applying for a grant to submit their own thesis project. They will be assisted in finding an AMU supervisor.
-
Stage 1 - Call for top-down projects
A call for thesis projects open to AMU researchers to submit a thesis research project.
-
Selection 1 - Thesis research projects
Selection of 40 thesis projects from the projects collected in stage 0 and stage 1.
-
Stage 2 - Call for applications
The thesis projects selected in stage 1 are published in a widely publicised international call for applications.
-
Stage 2 - Candidates for top-down proposals
Thesis selection committees select one candidate per top-down project to take part in the final stage.
-
Stage 3 - Interviews and final selection
The candidates selected in selection 2 and those who submitted a bottom-up project selected in selection 1 are invited to an interview. The top 20 candidates will be offered a 3-year PhD contract from 1st October 2025.
