Organised to mark the 150th anniversary of the Wimereux zoological station, the International Symposium on the History of Marine Sciences will take place from 3 at 5 July 2024 at the UMR LOG.
Call for papers open until 15 May 2024 and free registration until 1st June 2024.
On 15 June 1874, Alfred Giard set up one of France's first marine stations: the maritime zoology station at Wimereux. Today, the Laboratoire d'Océanologie et de Géosciences (LOG) is marking the 150th anniversary of the marine station with a historical and scientific symposium bringing together specialists in the history of science. A call for papers is open until 15 May 2024 to researchers in history and oceanography wishing to talk about the historical development of their discipline. The scientific themes addressed will cover the historical development of oceanography in the broadest sense, including the disciplines of marine ecology, physical oceanography, marine and coastal geosciences and oceanographic observation.
