Marine Ecology and Biodiversity (EMBIO)

Contacts: Stéphane Coupé and Delphine Thibault

EMBIO is the acronym for Marine Ecology and Biodiversity.

The aim of our group is to understand the role of the biotic component in the functioning of marine ecosystems, in the context of global change.

We are developing approaches based on field observations, laboratory experiments and modelling.

Our activities are organised around two key areas:

  • an integrated approach to the biological production of marine ecosystems
  • an ecosystem approach to disturbance, management and conservation.

We work on benthic and pelagic communities and collaborate closely with other teams in the laboratory (physics, chemistry, biogeochemistry and microbial ecology), which is essential for our ecosystem approach.

Our involvement in cross-functional areas
