The French-speaking Microbial Ecology Association (AFEM)

The Association Francophone d'Ecologie Microbienne (AFEM) is a non-profit association founded in 2004 and governed by the French law of 1901.

The AFEM aims to bring together microbial ecologists from France and French-speaking countries working on communities of bacteria, archaea, micro-eukaryotes and/or viruses, with the ambition of encouraging scientific contacts and partnerships and promoting the transfer of knowledge in microbial ecology. The topics covered are very broad and aim to better describe, understand, control and exploit microbial communities in the biosphere, both from a fundamental and applied point of view. One of AFEM's strong ambitions is to promote young researchers through calls for mobility and by allocating them significant speaking time at AFEM conferences.
