Le Monday 19 May 2025 The inaugural seminar of the MaritiMedSeaties international research network (IRN), supported by the CNRS Humanities and Social Sciences, is being held in Marseille on the theme of "Maritimity and habitability of major Mediterranean coastal cities".
Led by the ESPACE laboratory (UMR 7300) as part of the OHM Littoral méditerranéen, this IRN brings together around thirty researchers from France (CNRS, Aix-Marseille University, University of Avignon, Université Côte d'Azur), Spain (Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona), Italy (University of Genoa, University Federico II of Naples, CNR) and Tunisia (IRMC in Tunis, University of Carthage, University of Tunis, IRD).
Over a period of 5 years (2025-2029), the project will examine the relationship with the sea and the habitability of major coastal cities in the western Mediterranean from four angles:
The seminar is being organised with the support of the ECCOREV research federation, AMU's ITEM institute, Labex DRIIHM and ESPACE. It will be held at the Endoume Marine Station in Marseille, and will feature free of charge and open to anyone interested in the subject, subject to availability. The working language will be English.
